ABSTRACT

Raw textile fibers, whether natural or manmade, contain several inherent, added and accidental impurities. These impurities hamper perfect coloration. Before dyeing and printing, textile materials are, therefore, subject to several preparatory processes to remove those impurities to impart perfect and uniform absorbency so that the textile materials are capable of absorbing dyes or colorants without interference from the impurities. The preparatory processes are unsustainable as large quantities of water and chemicals are consumed and a huge quantity of waste is generated. Recycling and reuse of water and chemicals can improve sustainability of preparatory processes.
