ABSTRACT

This chapter shows how ownership and executive management support will determine the success or failure of the enterprise architecture (EA) development project. It aims to define the primary roles of the enterprise architect, business architect, and data architect and discusses how they must cooperate for the EA to succeed is. Establishing roles, defining and assigning responsibilities, provides a method that not only communicates expectations about people who are holding positions of authority, but also creates accountability for mistakes, delays, or sub-par performances. The business architect will handle weekly meetings with the process technology, data/IT architects, and department supervisors. The business architect will bring unresolved matters to the attention of the enterprise architect. The data architect will establish standards and principles for data/information throughout the company. A Geographic Information Systems application/technology architect will be responsible for the applications and technology catalog.
