ABSTRACT

The solvation of a certain problem of the analyte detection is based on putting adequate questions. This approach determines which sample has to be investigated and which qualitative methods could possibly be employed for obtaining relevant information. Separation of the interfering species is often essential and can be considered as a means of improving the selectivity of a method. The analyst is usually in a situation to apply some of the well-known methods in solving his own analytical problem. Good planning of experiments is an essential step in establishing a new analytical method. "External reaction" method and "resinous reagent" method are the main alternatives belonging to the category of the principal method. A simple and fast method has been worked out for the collection and filtration of traces of metal ions from extremely diluted solutions, using oxycellulose fibers. The resin-powder flotation method, when applied to individual procedures, has shown an improved sensitivity in respect to the principal method.
