ABSTRACT

The greatest challenge is about one of the world's most common ailments, dental caries. The next phase of the dental care program is the use of the argon laser for pulpal cavity treatment. These pulpal cavity treatments may be an alternative to extraction or root canal therapy. Another factor of dental application is laser transillumination which determines cracks, fissures in the tooth, and also the question of viability. There is also the use of transillumination with laser plethysmography as a test for circulation in the teeth. Another application of the laser is the use of the intra-oral dental prosthesis work with Q-switched research laser, single fiber of Nath. There is another important phase of laser dentistry, namely, laser oral surgery. If the retention of toluidine blue dye stain for malignancies of the oral cavity really does hold as a valuable aid for diagnosis, then the dye would help both for absorption and localization of the laser in this area.
