ABSTRACT

Kuhn and Schwaier 37 described 10 stages of the development of the tree shrew [Tupaia belangeri]. Insemination was verified by examining vaginal smears, and the postconceptional (pc) age was recorded. The primitive streak and first somites are found in embryos aged 9 days pc. Our staging of the later embryos differs slightly from that put forward by Kuhn and Schwaier.
