ABSTRACT

Einstein has been quoted as saying if we learn something wrong one time, it will take eleven correct teachings to change our mind. A wonderful physical therapist, Robin McKenzie of New Zealand, was touring the US teaching his principles when the author had the good fortune of meeting him in 1978. For him, he was the first to shed new light on the subject of lifting, and his clinical empirical observations and methodologies stand. This got the better of the author and off he went to Ohio State University in search of their weight lifting team. Again, they told him that they lifted with the back "locked in". With the back "locked in", they could lift more weight and not hurt their backs. About three months later, Curt joined the author and Dr. Steven Joel Rose, Ph.D., P.T. as the core faculty of The Back Seminar. In two more years, we would have ten faculty members.
