ABSTRACT
The integration and test group provides a vital service to the engineering and development team. The organization within engineering and development, and how engineering and development interfaces with manufacturing and customer services, can have a major impact on the quality of the product. Depending on the size of the company and the engineering and development organization, integration and test may be only a few people who perform all of the functions, or a much larger organization with specialists for each of the major areas. The integration and test team can serve as a backup to the customer services test and support group during that organization's peak loading periods. There also needs to be a good working relationship between manufacturing and engineering and development. Configuration control of both the software and the hardware is essential to the development of any large system.
