ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses the techniques and procedures used for technical and project reviews during the development of computer based systems. High-level engineering plans generally commit large amounts of time and resources and are subject to review by the highest levels of authority within a company. All reviewers of a detailed implementation plan should be individuals directly involved who understand the issues and the planning process. The selection of the review team is a management responsibility. The manager is responsible for scheduling the review with other reviewers, and arranging for a time and a place. Team technical reviews are more formal reviews which are conducted for all major specifications. The successful completion of the plan review should show as a major milestone on all plans, and therefore in individual status reports. It is also possible that major changes will be required due to unforeseen circumstances.
