ABSTRACT
This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the concepts covered in the preceding chapters of this book. The book examines some of the more important aspects of the energy performance of commercial and institutional buildings. Energy standards for buildings will continue to be one of the most important manifestations of national concerns. Considerable effort has already been expended, and experience gained, in formulating energy standards for buildings. Building owners must obtain a firm grasp of the terminology and, more importantly, the quantitative impact of their decision making as it affects energy use in buildings. Load profiles and performance lines are essentially monitoring methods for individual buildings. However, their application can be widened to cover other management levels. The book outlines the exogenous-endogenous (exo-endo) classification system in an attempt to clarify the problems to be faced. It concentrates on the needs of energy management.
