ABSTRACT
Luminescence is defined as an emission of photons from electron-excited states of molecules. There are two types of luminescence: fluorescence and phosphorescence. Fluorescence arises due to radiative transitions between singlet states of a molecule, while phosphorescence is caused by radiative transitions between triplet and singlet states.
