Over the past 3 decades, various floral systems have been used to examine the interacting roles of plant growth regulators on the growth and development of flowers. While many studies exist, few have clearly demonstrated the relationship between the endogenous levels of the plant growth regulators with the observed growth events during flower development. The most complete studies include those for Gaillardia, Dwnthus, and Ipomoea.
