ABSTRACT

For the first time in this Solvents in the Environment Series, a monograph is being devoted to a group of consumer products, specifically the solvents and propellants used in aerosols. During the past decade, there has been increasing concern over the hazards of fluorocarbons used as aerosol propellants, a topic reviewed by the author (D. M. A.) 7 , 13 and which will also be the subject of the next volume in the series. The composition of the aerosols discussed in the present volume excludes fluorocarbons and instead includes hydrocarbons, chlorinated solvents, and alcohols.
