ABSTRACT

The DBC/1012 performance measurements utilized what Teradata believes to be the same benchmark parameters — very simple transactions and credit authorization. Teradata's test configuration system consisted of 191 parallel processors and 286 disk storage units. Relational database capabilities serve a variety of industries including airlines, research laboratories, insurance companies, financial institutions, and utilities like KCP&L. When the user requests information stored on the database, the Structured Query Language is captured by the Teradata Director Program and dispatched to the database machine where it is received by an interface processor and translated. The include interface processor (IFP) manages the dialogue between a user session in a mainframe and the DBC/1012 Data Base Computer. The IFP Ynet interface controls the transmission of messages over the Ynet to and from the access module processors. The data base manager performs select, insert, delete, and update operations on existing data tables.
