ABSTRACT

This chapter is about the ways innovation is led in megaprojects in the built environment. It demonstrates the ways innovation is led and promoted throughout the life cycles of megaprojects based on the perspectives of senior managers involved. At the front end of megaprojects, lessons are learned about leading innovation from previous megaprojects and are adopted to specific contexts. Constructing a narrative about the purpose of megaprojects plays an important role at this stage. Innovations are stimulated in the supply chain for delivering megaprojects. Once there are good stories about successful innovations to tell, these are shared and promoted to wider audiences.
