ABSTRACT

This chapter is a kind of an exploration for the different minerals found in seawater. In this chapter, an assessment is made for the major components found in natural seawater; in particular Mg2+ salts that determine their solubility products. Evaporation and separation sequence of salts is discussed, and evaporating seawater and precipitating salts is presented. In particular, the sequence of different salt separations, including MgCl2, is identified. Finally, a brief economic analysis is focused on the feasibility of minerals recovery from seawater.
