ABSTRACT

This chapter concludes the cycle of our text: from resources to production. It includes a summary of the commercial methods that produces magnesium as an end-product. Basically, the two well-known methods (electrolysis process and ferrosilicon process) are detailed in this chapter. Electrolytic processes are the dominant processes used today worldwide. In addition, Chapter 6 highlights new processes for magnesium production that are presented in the section: “Magnesium Processes for Tomorrow.”
