ABSTRACT

Teresa “Tissa” David (1921–2012) was not only a great animator, she was a wonderful cook. She grew up in the city of Szeged, in southeastern Hungary. After fleeing her native country in 1950, she lived in Paris for 8 years, where she also mastered French cooking. She settled in New York where she became the dean of NY character animators. Her work graced the films of UPA, John Hubley, Richard Williams, Michael Sporn, and R. O. Blechman. At her cozy Upper East Side apartment, Tissa liked to treat guests to a hometown specialty, Szegediner goulash.
