ABSTRACT

Isadore “Friz” Freleng (1906–1995) came to Hollywood from Kansas City with the first group of Disney animators. After awhile he left Walt and helped start Leon Schlesinger's Looney Tunes Studio. Friz was one of the most iconic Warner Bros. cartoon directors in their Golden Age. He directed some of the best work of Porky, Bugs, Tweety, Sylvester, and Yosemite Sam. Legend has it Yosemite Sam was modeled on Friz, in part when he would lose his temper at the moviola, stomp his feet, and exclaim, “OOOHHH!!!”
