ABSTRACT

Michael Giacchino began by doing stop-motion animation of a character timed to music in his basement in Riverside, New Jersey. He studied animation and production at the School of Visual Arts in New York, but saw he had a knack for writing music. After courses at Julliard and an internship at Universal Studios, Michael embarked on career as one of the foremost composers of movie scores today. He created the distinctive music for such hits as Brad Bird's The Incredibles (2004) and Incredibles 2 (2018),Ratatouille (2007),Zootopia (2016), Inside Out (2015), and Coco (2017). In addition to films like J. J. Abrams’ Star Trek (2009), and Star Wars: Rogue One, and video games like Medal of Honor: Airborne (2007). He won an Oscar for the score of Up (2009).
