ABSTRACT
In this chapter we will show that it is always possible to extract a convergent sequence from any bounded sequence. This result supplements Theorem 7.3 and is more transparent than Theorem 4.1. For this, as a first step we shall examine the convergence of monotone sequences. Then, we will introduce lim sup and lim inf of a given sequence. These notations provide necessary and sufficient conditions for the convergence of sequences.
