ABSTRACT

There are three fundamental processes that must be mastered to attain outstanding and sustainable personal, management, and executive performance. This chapter labels these three processes as the Performance Trilogy®. The Performance Trilogy is about fundamentals: the development and execution of a winning strategy by a talented, aligned, and motivated team. By diligently practicing the fundamentals of the Performance Trilogy, one can avoid common activity traps and faulty reasoning and focus his/her time on the critical success factors that ensure high performance. Developing a successful strategy and executing it flawlessly is totally dependent on the selection and development of the team leader and team members chosen to perform the work. In selecting team members to help develop and execute strategy, the main focus should be on talent, motivation, and experience in that order. High performance depends on talented and motivated staff, and a well-designed and executed development program increases both.
