ABSTRACT
This chapter illustrates linear and nonlinear boundary-value problems and eigenvalue problems with scalar ODEs of second order. In these problems, the ODE is augmented with conditions on the solution and/or on its derivative specified at different points of the interval of definition. The Sturm-Liouville operator and the Green’s function are discussed in this chapter.
