ABSTRACT

The harmonic emissions from a large solar plant are modeled in this study. There has been an attempt to obtain larger currents and increased voltage from interconnections of solar arrays and innovations in the design of inverters. The inverters will generate some harmonics. For a harmonic study, it is necessary that the spectrum of the harmonics is obtained from the manufacturer as it may vary considerably. A consideration of importance is that the solar generation can vary over large limits, and with it the reactive power compensation will vary. Wind turbines are not able to maintain the voltage level and required power factor. Due to the stochastic nature of wind turbine harmonics, probability concepts have been applied. Autoregressive moving average model is the statistical analysis of time series and provides parsimonious description of a stationary stochastic process in terms of two polynomials: one for auto regression and the other for moving average.
