ABSTRACT

This chapter addresses the basic theories and conventions associated with three-phase alternating current (AC) electrical power systems. Some of the theories contained in the chapter and throughout this book are not commonly presented, and the content should enhance the reader's understanding of three-phase power. Although the main focus is generation, the interconnection of generation with transmission, as well as subtransmission and distribution, are also covered in the book. In addition, much of the material presented for generation can be directly applied to the transmission and distribution of electrical power as well.
