ABSTRACT

Since their rst reports in 1994, free deep inferior epigastric perforator (DIEP) aps have been rapidly rising in popularity and have become the standard surgery procedure in breast reconstruction. Imaging techniques currently available allow preoperative location of the individual perforator of choice in order to design the kind and the volume of the ap. These will make the surgical procedure much easier and also would decrease patient morbidity preventing unnecessary perforator dissections, proceeding in a faster and safer way.
