ABSTRACT

We can define the object recognition task as the process that consists of distinguishing the common features of a type of objects to assign them a label that describes them. That is, we can say that the object recognition process is a classification task that collects similar objects into a set, and separates them from those objects that are different. So, object recognition is an important task in robotics; in order for a robot to interact with its environment, it has to know it, i.e., it has to recognize the objects that surround it.
