ABSTRACT

The central theme of this chapter will be descriptive statistics. We’ll be looking at two approaches to the topic, namely, graphs and numerical measurements. Various types of graphs such as the bar graph, histogram, dot plot, and stem-and-leaf plot will be highlighted. When describing data using numerical measurements, we will discuss measures of central tendency, relative standing, and measures of variability. We have dedicated this chapter to descriptive statistics, while inferential statistics will be studied in Chapter 5.
