ABSTRACT

It is the goal of this entry to provide an overview of the

topic “Software Project Audits and Management

Reviews.” To achieve this goal, the entry illustrates differ-

ent definitions of the underlying terminology. To extract

the essence of the various approaches, the entry then intro-

duces a road map of the core concepts and relationships

that together embody the field. This road map is organized

around six primary dimensions: scope, purpose, process,

participants, timing, and standards. The road map dimen-

sions are taken as the basis for discussing different aspects

of software project audits and management reviews. In the

end, the entry provides some heuristics that must be kept in

mind in the effective and efficient design and conduct of

software project audits and management reviews.
