ABSTRACT

Resolution: The smallest increment of input stimulus that

can be sensed, which is not necessarily the accuracy

because the transfer function may be non-linear.

Precision: How repeatable the measurements are; specifi-

cally a measurement repeated with identical input condi-

tions, precision describes how much the results will vary.

(Please note accuracy is not synonymous with resolution or

precision; they are related values but not identical.

Accuracy describes how close the sensor is to a “static”

ideal. Precision describes how results vary dynamically.)[5]
