ABSTRACT
The goal of this entry is to survey the application of
Information Retrieval (IR) to the challenges encountered
in Software Engineering (SE) during the maintenance and
evolution of a software project-that is, problems encoun-
tered after the product’s initial release (e.g., feature loca-
tion, developer identification, and impact analysis).
