ABSTRACT

This chapter explores some of the unique challenges involved in providing education to rural communities, compared to urban areas and examines options for improving early childhood development (ECD). It looks at how to not just teach children the technicalities of how computers work, but to engage with technology to empower themselves. Among children who attend school regularly, there are wide variations in their academic achievement, even at the basic primary level. These barriers to a child’s ability to attain education have been linked to their ECD. B. G. Tasci goes further to suggest that the school buildings and ground themselves should provide an educational tool for children to interact with. Teaching basic literacy and numeracy skills to adults is generally more challenging than teaching to children. Children from education system have been shown to have better outcomes than those in “conventional” schooling systems.
