ABSTRACT
Tables 2.1, 2.2, and 2.3 list the functions ordinarily performed in the course of a measurement study. Every function in the tables is essential, but the most important ones have been indicated by an asterisk. Those so indicated involve uncertainty, because they require the researcher to make choices and decisions.
