ABSTRACT
Part I covers various supporting technologies for XML. Because of these supporting technologies, XML has gained much popularity. These supporting technologies include the Web, Web databases, information retrieval, metadata, information management, and electronic commerce (e-commerce). In each of the chapters in Part I, the relationship of the technology to XML is mentioned briefly. This gives the reader some idea about XML. This part of the text explores what XML is all about.
