ABSTRACT
In Part I, I discussed various supporting technologies for XML, because these supporting technologies have helped with the development of XML. These supporting technologies include the Web, Web databases, information retrieval, metadata, information management, and electronic commerce (e-commerce). In each of the chapters in Part I, I also discussed the relationship of the technology to XML briefly. This gave the reader some idea about XML.
