ABSTRACT

There are numerous quality tools that may be applied to problem solving. Some of these are very complex, advanced mathematical techniques, while others are quite simple to learn and apply. Table 4.2 displays 38 of the most commonly used tools. For each tool listed, each step of the problem solving cycle (PSC) in which that tool can be utilized is indicated. For example, the check sheet may be used in Step 1, Problem selection; Step 2, Root cause analysis; and Step 4 , Verification of correction.
