ABSTRACT

To implement a process of integrated design that takes into consideration all the phases of the life cycle, from the defi nition of product specifi cations to its disposal, harmonizing a wide range of factors and including environmental aspects, it is necessary to use opportune strategies allowing environmental requirements to be incorporated in design practice. Chapter 8 outlined a general view of how an intervention oriented toward environmental protection can be integrated in the design and development process through suitable design strategies for the environmental performance of a product’s life cycle.
