ABSTRACT
Rapid increases in performance and decreases in cost of computing platforms and digital image acquisition
and display subsystems have made digital images ubiquitous. Continued improvements promise to make
digital video as widely used, opening a broad range of new application areas. In this chapter, some of the key
aspects of this evolving data type are examined.
