ABSTRACT
Arabinoxylans are nonstarch polysaccharides present in various tissues of cereal grains. Although they are minor constituents of cereals, they are the predominant matrix polysaccharides in gramineous cell walls. They have been speculated to play a role in cross-linking of cellulose microfibrils, and therefore may create a rigid network within cell wall architecture as well as regulate cell expansion.
