ABSTRACT
Carl and Paula Maven live next door to Ernestine Feasor, whose grandnephew shares her home. Young Ernest Lionel Feasor, also known as Elf, is a wily young man prone to excess. So, when his great aunt asks him to spray their tomato seedlings with an insecticide every two weeks during the month she will be on vacation in Fresno, he decides that spraying every two days will be even better. Aunt Ernestine also leaves Elf with explicit instructions about which insecticide (a pyrethroid) to use, and how to mix it (in very small amounts).
