ABSTRACT
We consider the primary sets of activities in food production to be agricultural based, and the industry identified with these sets of activities is the
agro-industry
. Agriculture (food production) is a basic activity for human beings. It is an essential component in the life support system of the human population. The importance of agriculture was highlighted by the Johannesburg World Summit on Sustainable Development (WSSD) in 2002 as one of the four components within sustenance and development, i.e., industrialization, urbanization, resource exploitation, and agriculture.
