ABSTRACT

The first step to developing new glasses is to determine a glass-forming region in a given multicomponent system. In order to do this, conventionally, researchers melt a batch of material in a container using an electric furnace and pour the melt onto a quenching plate to test the glassforming tendency for each composition. The process is very simple but time consuming for a lot of

tests, limiting the total efficiency of research progress. The problem will be solved by adopting combinatorial methodology, which is exactly intended to mine out valuable compositions from myriad combinations of components.
