ABSTRACT

As the population is aging and individuals live longer, enteral feeding is becoming a common medical intervention. As with any medical intervention, enteral nutrition carries with it benefits and risks. Enteral nutrition has been a hot topic in the media due to the ethical issues involved with it. These ethical issues become more important when dealing with the geriatric population. Enteral nutrition is the provision of nutrients to the stomach or intestine via a tube to individuals who are unable to eat or do not eat enough.
