ABSTRACT
Diabetes mellitus is a progressive disease that can have deleterious effects on the foot and ankle, most notably ulceration, infection, and subsequent amputation. Ulcers can be neuropathic, vascular (ischemic), or mixed (neuroischemic) in etiology.
