ABSTRACT

Isotherm models reflect interactions between active sites on the adsorbent surface and the adsorbed species and, simultaneously, the interactions occurring exclusively among the adsorbed species. The dependence of the isotherm shapes on concentration profiles in thin-layer chromatography (TLC) is fully analogous to that observed in high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), and the relationship between column chromatographic peak profiles and the isotherm models has been discussed in depth by Guiochon et al. [1].
