Cell-penetrating peptides (CPPs) are accepted as a valuable tool in biological

research. However, several basic questions regarding the behavior of the CPPs

remain to be answered. What is clear is that the CPP phenomenon is universal: data

from our laboratory show that uptake occurs in several species of yeast and bacteria,

as well as insect cells and plant cells.1-3 Thus, the outer membrane of cells can vary

widely and still be permeable to CPPs.
