ABSTRACT
Saunders (1986) found that of the women reporting having used minor violence, 31% stated that it was always in self-defense, 23% always fighting back, and 11% first strike. Among women reporting using severe violence, 39% reported they did so for self-defense, 32% fighting back, and 3% first strike.
