Conducting forensic assessments on batterers and sex offenders is a difficult, complicated, and an exhausting time-consuming procedure. Doing a thorough assessment requires a willingness to invest the amount of time and energy necessary to gather all pertinent information. I will use the terms

, interchangeably. Information should be gathered from the sources discussed below, though other sources may be included.
