ABSTRACT
Continuing the search discussed in chapter 13, we explore the role of electric quadrupole hyperfine interactions in the 4 f 6 7 F multiplet of the trivalent europium ion. Europium has two stable isotopes 151 Eu and 153 Eu, each having a nuclear spin of I = 52 , and hence each possesses both a nuclear magnetic moment and an electric quadrupole moment.
