ABSTRACT

This book introduces a method called Process Oriented Analysis (POA), which has been developed and refined over the last ten years for the analysis of complex production systems. Modern manufacturing machinery and plant automation are becoming more and more complex. As a result, human skills are even more important for the conception, planning, and setup of these systems. In addition, the comprehension required for the interaction of complex manufacturing systems and the behavior of single machines is now a key scientific issue. The goal of POA is to help engineers with conception, optimization, modernization, and maintenance. Existing instruments for the analysis of such systems with advanced technology that include all the technical and operational aspects are few in number and limited in performance.
