ABSTRACT

There are many forms of risk assessment, ranging from the worthless to the extremely valuable. What may be a productive approach in one set of circumstances may be a blunder or a charade in another situation. Selection of the method most appropriate is the key initial choice in developing a suitable risk assessment policy and plan based on need, cost, technical difficulty, available competencies, the feasibility of instituting preventive and corrective remedial actions, and due consideration of professional ethics. The following alternative methods may suggest the elements that can be adapted for a tailored or custom-fitted written risk assessment plan.
